It is completely stunning inside, and we decided that a big group of us are going to go to mass there on Sunday. We got there super early (8.45) so the queue was small when we arrived. By the time the church opened at 9.30 however, the queue stretched around the piazza, so definitely worth trying to be an early bird. Pictures are supposedly forbidden, but everyone was taking them so I joined in, using the excuse that I was photographing for research.
The mosaics are incredible, and as we'd had a lecture on them the day before, we were full of fresh appreciation.
We spent a long while in the church, but a considerable amount of that time was spent dodging tour guides who were scolding tourists for taking photos.
Afterwards, we headed out to find our friends (still in the seminar).
Here's me on the piazza post-church. Set free from sin? Spiritually liberated? Hmm, maybe...
Loving that last pic of you :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous, but keep all these posts coming so I can live vicariously though you!
Hmm maybe...
