Ventnor Botanics

When I go back to the island, I tend to stay pretty local.
I can't drive, and getting around on the bus with a 5 year old can be pretty tricky (particularly when he decides he needs the toilet halfway through the journey!)
The weather's been so nice, however, that it would've been a crime not to venture out an explore this time round.
The Ventnor Botanical Gardens are on the South side of the island. You walk in and it's like walking into paradise.
You can get lost amidst the trees and flowers and when the sun is shining its brightest, you forget you're in England and feel as though you're somewhere tropical, surrounded by palm trees.

It's a great place to go to either relax on your own, or to take kids on a mini adventure

Louis wasn't too keen on having his photo taken - he wanted to go off exploring

(I know my sunnies look a bit weird there, but they're two tone and beautiful in real life!)

After wandering around for a while, we headed to the café for a drink and a cool down.
They'd done it up since my last visit, and I have to say, I was rather impressed.

Louis crashed out on the table, but we perked him up with some apple juice and a packet of crisps

He then proceeded to steal my camera because he'd seen 'a cool bird thing'

(That's my brother on the right, by the way)

We carried on wandering around, exploring, for the rest of the day

And then we found this little (big) guy on the way out!

He needs a name though... any suggestions?
