Peggy Guggenheim Collection

If Venice has taught me one thing (other than that I was a fool to think I could manage without an umbrella or a waterproof jacket) it's that you really can overdo it on Medieval/Renaissance art.
Now, I really love the stuff, BUT I've kind of been living, eating and breathing it since my arrival here. It's everywhere, and since the module I'm taking is also on this period, I felt it was time for a change.
Last week, I rallied the troops and we hit the Venice Guggenheim for a spot of modern art appreciation.
The Peggy Guggenheim Collection holds just about everything from Picasso to Henry Moore and beyond, making it a nice change from discussing the use of chiaroscuro, and ogling at altarpieces.

Even this sculpure was taller than me...

The gallery has a facade facing the canal. You can wander down the steps onto the front patio for a great view of Venice...

Alex and I finished our rounds of the gallery first so whilst waiting for our friends, of course we took vain photos!

There's always time for a cheeky selfie! Ciao ciao! xxx
