This was our final summer holiday activity. We became the ultimate explorers and ventured up Headon Warren near my house. Equipped only with a plastic magnifying glass and my late grandfather's binoculars, we hiked (read: casually strolled) through the blistering heat to reach the summit, carefully avoiding the lairs of wild animals (badger holes) and dodging tropical insects (wasps).

We sat at the top of the huge mountain (hill/cliff), and admired the vast ocean (the Solent) that surrounded us. Louis spotted some pirates (yachts) with his binoculars, and also a mountain troll and his pet wolf (a man and his dog).

After a while, we realised we didn't have enough supplies to last long, so we headed back to base camp (my house) for the essentials (a fruit shoot and a freddo frog).

Side note: Louis is getting a lot better with my camera. Teach 5 year old how to use DSLR - check! Clever kid.
